I was pleased to have an opportunity to talk about mindful self-compassion (MSC) in the pre-recorded Q&A segment which followed the documentary, My Year of Living Mindfully by Australian filmmaker, Shannon Harvey
I received several responses from people telling me how much they enjoyed the documentary and how the self-compassion information added to their overall understanding of how to benefit from both practices together. Interestingly, there was one aspect of the Self-Compassion discussion which received the most responses: people were interested and glad to hear about the two different kinds of self-compassion, the yin – the most common understanding of compassion, and the yang which is the more ‘fierce’ compassion of standing up for yourself and for what’s right in our communities. We’ll post the Q&A portion here for those who haven’t already viewed it.
